About the founder, Shorna Besa
Â
Shorna is a public health professional and Sickle Cell advocate whose lived experience shapes everything she does. She founded a community‑led organisation to support, uplift, and empower people affected by Sickle Cell.
Her mission is to make the world safer and more understanding for the Sickle Cell community, and she works directly with the community to make that change real.
Our mission is to support you to become and stay Sickle aware through mentorship, education and sickle cell crises awareness to improve health outcomes. We also strive to increase blood donation and Sickle Cell trait testing in the African/Caribbean community.
Our vision is to make the world a safer place for those living with Sickle Cell.
